Yes, we played at Oxjam on Thursday, the 2nd. Right in front
of the tower in front of 63 people I was told by my Canadian acquaintances.
The show was a benefit for Oxfam international, a non-profit who plays a vitally important role in providing disaster relief care, clean water distribution, fair-trade, and so forth.
On-stage, the sound was terrible, as we only had two small wedges, each blaring keys.
Supposedly however, the tunes sounded good offstage.
Lineup: C.Cox - Bass, M.Shepherd - Drums, N.Brown - Keys, T.Brown - etc.
1. Desert Mama
2. Cannon Fodder
3. Once It Was Golden
4. At Midnight
5. If Its Gonna Go Your Way
6. Young Loner Blues
7. The Good Times
8. Don't You See?
or something like that.

Chase Holbrook & The Porchcats

Chase Holbrook has been performing in Austin since before I came here back in 2006. I first met him at The Hideout downtown. He released a solo EP in 2007, I think it evolved into an LP later. Nowadays, he's playing under Chase Holbrook & The Porchcats, which includes djembe, viloin, and sometimes bass or another guitar. What I like about his music is the imagery he creates lyrically and rhythmically. Nice guy, too.

They've got a CD release December 14th at the Hideout.

Andrew Stone

Andrew Stone is one hell of a show.

I first met Andrew back in 2006 in the Hideout circuit. He was shyer then, and still felling out his sound. He's since come a long, long, way, progressing faster than anyone could have anticipated. Stone is an animated passion on stage, he often reminds me, quite starkly, of Jeff Buckley the way his vibrato comes out, and the way he's always about to spontaneously over heat and blow up his guitar.
